Sunday Wordle #65: humility, swells, plants, spray, claim, refrain, flicks, chain, trigger, relishes, crack, grittle, gravity

Black and White

Nothing like the old
black and white flicks
where swells danced
in fancy dress, and some-
times the crack of gunfire
was heard, spray of bullets
from hired heavy with nervous
trigger finger–a laughing psycho–
who relished killing, and later
claimed he was framed,
same old refrain, a singing
canary, put to work on
a chain gang.  Some heros hummed
with humility.  They fought everyday
grittle of poverty in a neighborhood
with dying geraniums planted
in hope on broken cement
windowsills.  Yet, there were
always the swells, cocktails
held in bejeweled fingers,
their lives unchanged by
the gravity of a deepening
depression.

Just to let you know your Mr. Linky link didn’t work for me…put I’m persistent!
I like your take on this weeks challenging wordle list. The roaring 20’s comes to mind too – the Prohibition against liqueur that didn’t work. And everyone just trying to do the best with what they did have.
