Simple Angel

A simple angel made of clay
lies in this box I give you.
Keep her, without cover, in
a fixed place where you can see
her every day.  When waves
of darkness haunt you,
and even the moon is eclipsed,
this little angel will guide you,
help you to see that your problems
and solutions are not so far
apart. She has a heart to pair
with yours, and the art
of knowing how to share burdens.
You may only need her
for a brief snatch of time,
but she will remain yours,
as long as you never
keep her confined.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
