Glass Dreams

Wordle #160

words: shattering, listen, sky, land, rub, name, dreams,
glass, clumsy, settle, axe, vanish

Listen, your dreams are made of glass,
so when they shatter, you should not
be surprised. I do not like to rub
it in, but your sky-high expectations
create a clumsy feeling in the men
you choose. That is why they vanish.
Name anyone you have gone out with
in the last few years, who did not
get the axe. I am not suggesting
you settle for anybody, but come down
for a landing. You might start
by putting some blinds
on those enormous
glass windows.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
