Written for The Daily Post at, “Long Exposure”

Among the people you’ve known for a long time, who is the person who’s changed the most over the years? Was the change for the better?

We have all grown
older, and hopefully
wiser in how to live
our lives. Some have married,
and divorced. Some have children,
and grand-children. Others
do not. After all our hair styles
and colors, weight fluctuations,
good jobs, and bad up to retirement,
I feel that we all have the same
personality, sense of humor,
and values that we had
when we met–30 or 40 years ago.
Whether that is good or bad,
is something only each of us
would be able to say.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
