The Cocktail Party

Written for The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #169

Words:  manufactured, hike, eclipse, room, piece, millions, honors, lackluster, side, shot, throat, cheeky

Oh, she’s a cheeky sort,
isn’t she? With her ruby-necklaced
throat, and that obviously
manufactured nose. But, he
would hike up the side of
a mountain, just for the honor
of being with her. And darling,
she is absolutely shot through
with Botox. Well, with his millions,
he can afford to replace any piece
of her face or body that warrants it.
She thinks her beauty eclipses
this room. Just look at her!
All I have to say is, millions
or not, I would never want
to be married to that lackluster,
weak-chinned man. Would you?

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
