Ode to Edgar Allen Poe

Write an ode to a specific poet (dead or alive) or to poets in general.

Poe

Mellifluous stanzas of verse
flowed from your pen,
immortalizing ravens,
pealing bells, and the state
of being alone.

Perhaps your black tales came
from the fumes of the whiskey
you consumed, or, simply
from a place deep within you.

In your dreams within dreams,
we find still, the hope of love.
