Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!
There’s that picture of my sister
and me at a pool. Her hair curled
in auburn, mine in dirty blonde
sticks.
In a trick of time, her curls
become mine, her hair
straightens.
Here we are at a festive
holiday table–Grandpa saying
prayers–giggling and kicking each other.
My sweet sixteen with bouffant do,
hers with long hair, parted center,
looking so grownup.
At Dad’s sixty-five surprise party
outdoors, we are laughing,
two married women.
Oh no. See how old we are,
with my niece standing
in the middle.
The six years between us
have melted; we stand
as equal grownups.
Here’s looking at you, kid!
loved the way you brought the two sisters together on an even plane.
