Wait For Me (an Englyn)*

Written for Poetic Asides April PAD – Day 27
Write a looking back poem
Of course, some people just glance over their shoulders, and others stop and turn all the way around. Some look back in time and weigh their successes and failures, evaluate things they could do better. Some claim they never look back. Whatever your stance on looking back, capture it in a poem today.

*Englyn:  Originally written to praise or mock a well known person.  Later, soldiers serving
in WWI, sending messages o sweethearts.  More modern version can be love poems
7 syllables, mono-rhymed

Do you remember that night
we made love in the moon’s light?
Wait for me, Sue, and please write.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
