The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. 

Years ago, our friend rode
a donkey around the canyon.
Happily, this practice
was discontinued
before we got there. Viewing
striated red rocks of beauty,
my husband suggested
a helicopter ride. Ah,
but it was not to be. You see,
before the ride, we sat
in an Imax theater watching
the tour we were going to take,
getting sicker by the minute.
We did not fly over the canyon.
Simply looking at the Grand Canyon
was spectacular
from any point of view.
