Open Up

Written for:  Poetic Asides #316 – Write an open poem.
The poem could be about physically opening something: a garage door, a bottle of soda, or your mouth. The poem could also go the metaphorical route of opening a can of worms or Pandora’s box. Or if you’re into golf or tennis, writing about the U.S., French, or British Opens is permitted fine. It’s all open to interpretation, I guess.
and for Poets United, Midweek Motif~Acceptance.

There is an open place
in my heart and mind,

a tolerance for lifestyles
and opinions of others.

Belief or non-belief
in religion, culture or tradition

makes my world an infinitely
more interesting place

in which to live, as openly
as I wish.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
