If We Changed Places

Written for:  Poets United Midweek Motif~Identity

Let’s switch places
you and me.
I will eat Chia seeds,
and order stuff from QVC.
Do I have to learn biology?

You will have to make
sandwiches with mayonnaise,
have dogs instead of cats,
and spend most of your days
on the computer until you’re dazed.

We are alike in many ways–
same sense of humor,
avid readers, lovers of
sweets, baby boomers.
Self-confidence? Late bloomers.

Let’s just stay
as we are.
Life would be too confusing.
You drive a car,
I’m just bizarre.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Hahaha! Behavior tells a lot about a person, but maybe not about the spirit.

What a wonderful poem – so cheered me up – it’s good to be bizarre and find someone who accepts our little foibles – I will eat Chia seeds, and order stuff from QVC – particularly made me chuckle
