For Today

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #239

Words:  start, two, still, free, volume, crispy, phrase, attack, truth, sun, rage, yearning

Turn up the volume,
yearning to rage
with a turn of phrase.

Start up the still,
two bourbons for me–
I am feeling free

and easy, having fun.
It is a clear, crisp day,
mellow sunshine on the way.

No attacks of truth
today–declaring peace,
let the bad times cease.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    Sometimes a bourbon and suspension of the truth is absolutely in order to re-boot and refresh…a wonderfully clear and fearless poem – cheers to that!
