Loss Of A Friend

Written for:  dVerse Poets Pub, Haibun Monday #9
As always, keep your prose concise and let your haiku shine!

A good-hearted person–charming and funny–
has left us. Pictures pour forth.
Remembered anecdotes keep him
with us. Stunned and saddened
by our loss, we move ahead
with heavier steps.

our path is broken
we stop, think about our route
a friend is gone

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a dear friend does make us question the path we are on…suddenly alone.

yes…losing a friend/loved one really makes each of our footsteps more direct, at least until the sting of grief fades a bit.

knowing a life has ceased so quickly really puts things into perspective. recently lost a dear cousin at the tender age of 26. he left behind an unborn child and a 1 year old. losing a loved one makes us realize and appreciate things more deeply.

  3. Those heavier steps are so true in moving forward. But in time they do weigh less….lovely haibun..
