Creating a sense of home in our lives is our aim today.

If you dress in soft clothing,
paint your walls in pleasing tones,
have comfortable furniture
in which to park your bones,
own good books to read, friends
with whom you are at ease
anywhere you go,  ability
to laugh for as long as you wish,

and have a pet on each side,
or a tank for your fish, you will

have fulfilled the requirements
of a happy sense of home.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Home is what you make it – sometimes quite literally…it certainly doesn’t always come easy but when we can make it for ourselves there is a sense of achievement – superbly built!
