Important Qualities

Written for:  Poetics Aside April 2016 Challenge – Day 28
Important (blank).  Fill in the blank with a word or phrase, make it the title of your poem, and then write your poem.

Do you try to be polite
when it’s late at night,
and friend phones, she’s in a bad place?
Patience is grace.
Lend a shoulder to cry on
for a friend in need.
Tables can turn with great speed.
When a homeless person asks you,
for change, think; you could be in their shoes.
When it’s late at night, patience is grace for a friend in need.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
