Sit A Spell

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #258

words:  first, spin, smell, spell, branch, tide, call, vote, trip, look, dissolve, give

Sit a spell, smell branches
of honeysuckle. Look around
you. Let anxious thoughts
dissolve, ebb away as ocean
tides.  Hummingbirds are spinning
neon spirals in mid-air. Crows
caw to each other, here and there.
Give in to those first rays
of warmth, when relaxation
rounds your body like a
silken cocoon. An abundance
of time exists for discussing,
and voting on where to explore
when we take our next trip–after
we finish this one.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
