Tribute to Jane

Written for:  Carpe Diem Special Tribute In Memoriam Jane Reichhold (1937-2016)

If I could
live my life over
to be the child
who planted ash trees
to grow into temples

Jane Reichhold, Scarlet Scissors Fire

art is exact
like a woman in love
pencil and error
a blue-lined grid of wants
where death is unnamed

Jane, Scarlet Scissors Fire

milk sky
the unbearable heaviness
of things unspoken
before the sandpiper
calls to the sea

Here is my attempt:

some feelings are held
close to the heart, entombed
secrets not meant to share

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Thank God Jane was there to share some painful secrets … I would have self-destructed. Beautiful tribute —
