“I hope to create every Wednesday a special episode in honor of and as a tribute to Jane Reichhold. In this special feature I will share haiku, tanka, articles and her wonderful art-work to inspire you all and to keep her memory alive.”

Flutes
echoing each other
two crows

winter solitude
the cat washes again
the tip of her tail

a new language
written in my oldest books
mildew

dreams come alive
the old monk plays the bamboo flute
becomes young again

Here is my attempt:

Smile wide, listen
they marvel at her stillness
inside sad heart races

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
