The Mysterious Blonde

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #277

Words:  sport, hit, high, win, yellow, momentum, answer, board, three, foul, spin, instincts

Sporting a yellow rose in her hair,
the platinum blonde won big
at Blackjack, hit high
on wheel spins. They said
her instincts were incredible. When
the game picked up momentum,
she kept up her pace. Then, clock
on the board struck three. Patrons
poked each other. Foul-tempered
big boss was hurrying down
staircase. She glanced up,
lines of worry creasing
her face. She dashed out
front door, security officers
racing after her. Cacophony
filled casino. Voice of the boss
rang out. “They will get her,
and she will have a lot
to answer for.”

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
