Who’s On First?

Word for Today

“Open to all persons. Relating to community as a whole. Everyone within a specified environment. The public response has been varied. Many are protesting, whiles others remain completely silent. We have witnessed acts of anger and hatred, but also those of giving and tremendous caring. Today’s task is to address that public. Express how you feel, what you think, and what you believe is best for that public reality. What would be best for everyone, not just a few? What do you think about public response? Is it effective, or not?”

Soon they will take bets–
Trump or Putin. To sweeten
pot, we can throw in
Kim Jong-un. In terms
of mad men ruling countries,
they all fit the profile.

Protests by vote or street
have been done. A recount
has been done. I fear that
rational people will now sit
back, and wait for a tweet
of war.

Place your bets. There is
still time.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  3. If a foreigner may comment, I think Trump is going to go down as one of America’s better Presidents. (Hindsight is always better than foresight,)
