Written for Quickly #23
You know about the blind men and the elephant. And you know Vermeer’s “Milkmaid”* Write “The Blind Men and the Milkmaid”

If there was a lineup,
she thought, not one
of these gentlemen
could recognize me.
I am just a milkmaid,
you see. I’m nobody.
Ah, but how they
bellow like my cows
when they want service.
So glad I am not
married to any of them.
I pity the lives
of their wives.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York.
My goal is to create and share poetry with others
who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve
in you, and feel your sparks as well.
I like where you went.
I had her ‘servicing’ the blind men by cooking for them – though maybe they wanted more?
