Written for: Fireblossom Friday: Looking Beyond The Obvious
“I want you to try to write a slightly dishonest poem. A little bit misleading. Give us something to focus on–the apparent subject of your poem. But slip in a detail that is really more important. Make it a new poem for this challenge, please. Then link!”
Woman sits, legs bent
under her, on sofa. Hums
a tune, barely discernible.
Wrapped in a red caftan, silver
earrings dangling, she holds
a mug of green tea in her hands.
Twilight in winter. She hears
wind knock against the shutters.
Looking at a book on the coffee
table, she realizes she needs
more light.
Mischievous Merlin pads
into kitchen. He eyes
a plate of donuts on counter.
After several attempts to leap
onto the counter, he raps his
nose underneath. Plate
comes crashing down–ceramics
and crumbs sprinkle the floor.
Merlin makes a dash for bathroom.
Merlin not a wizard at all made me ☺ smile with his doggie tricks
Much love…
