Lost and Found

Written for:  dVerse Poets  “Have a Heart!”  (posted by Lillian)
Include the word “heart” somewhere in your poem. Perhaps some will be clever and we’ll have to search for it: the art is divine; she art thine; hear thy self. Or you might talk about a brave heart, broken heart, your sweetheart, or be heartfelt in your feelings. So many ways to have a heart!

Did you lose your heart
somewhere out there?
Is it rusting under
a car wheel? Has it not
had a proper meal? Take
heart. Tin can be polished,
dents can be smoothed,
and you will move past
the damage to love again.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Love this! The follow through with the ways to heal the heart … provides the lesson well. In many ways, there are so many kinds of love — and I’m always amazed at the heart’s ability to expand.

If someone has hurt you, as your post suggests, it could not have been “true” love. Seek still, and do not be afraid to open your heart, right? So glad you joined us for the prompt!

PS: your side bar — yes indeed, each day is a gift, and we must open it in the “present” — never noticed your side bar before! 😊❤

I liked the idea that the cure for losing one’s heart is to “take heart”.
