April Giraffe

Tuesday, April 04, 2017 04:41PM HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. April the Giraffe is . . . ready to give birth at any moment!

Miniature daisies dot
the meadow. Shushing
of a stream. Lovers
locked in dreams
under umbrellaed
limbs of a maple
tree. See one small
ball of fluff in sky
of sun-streaked blue.
Do you hear it? A band
plays music that wafts
through the air,
and the lovers’ hair
on this amber-brilliant
April day. Pick me
a daisy.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    of a stream. Lovers
    locked in dreams . . . “
