Get Her Out Of Your System

Written for:  Poetic Asides April 2017 Challenge – Day 16

For today’s prompt, take the phrase “(blank) System,” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Possible titles could include: “Weather System,” “Solar System,” “Writing System,” “Ecological System,” or any number of other takes on systems.

You have a tendency
to dwell in fantasy.
Good times are all you recall.
She lied right to your face,
said she needed her space,
had you wrapped up in her shawl,
while dating other men.
Banish her; live again.
Heed the writing on the wall.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
