All About Power

Written for:  Imaginary Gardens With Real Toads – A Skyflower Friday  – “Monsters”(posted by Kerry)
Write a poem about a monster or monsters.

Those who lurk near schoolyards
hoping to lure
an innocent child
whose life will be forever changed

Those who are powerless to prove
their profile wrong
by raping vulnerable women
whose lives will be forever changed

Those who spew dangerous drivel, disavow
science, contradict their own words,
and bully all in name of country
whose citizens lives can be forever halted

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Monsters indeed! There seems to be more of them, not less. Or is there more emphasis on the problem than there used to be.

Yes there are so many monsters among us who care little for their fellow humans with their words and actions. It is good to let off steam now and then.
