Floating Light Troiku

Written for:  Carpe Diem Weekend-meditation #3 on the river

floating candles

floating lights

And here is the haiku which you have to use for this Troiku-challenge:

on the river
lights float to the horizon
the dead rejoice

© Basho

on the river
reflection of lighthouse
guides travelers to safety

lights float to horizon
against a blackened sky
as ships head home

the dead rejoice
as sundown ends solemn day
atonement is theirs

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. A nice Troiku … I love how you have chosen to use the life of a sailor

  2. Tournesol says:

A lovely series you’ve painted …the second pills at the heartstrings.
