Written for: Imaginary Gardens With Real Toads – Midweek Challenge: Thinking of Little Things
“Today, pretend for a moment that you are at a loss for something to write. If you are me, you won’t have to pretend very hard. Others of you may have to stave off one of your go-to themes. Then, think of a little thing, which may, of course, actually be colossal–or not–it may just be a little thing–and write an ode to it.”

Karin Gustafson
first sip of black coffee
in the morning
reading a maze-filled mystery
in bed
whiff of patchouli scent
on a passerby
lavender oil delicately dabbed on neck and wrists
before sleep
waking up to a chirp
creating cloud animals
in my mind
I love this poem. Big time love it.

Yes, so do I. I don’t know if it is the memories of it, or the actual scent.
