Rock’s POV

Written for:  dVerse Poets Pub – Quadrille #45 – Rock  (posted by Mish)
Use it as a verb. Rock us gently or rock our world. Use it as a noun. Is it a polished precious stone, a beach treasure or a jagged rocky cliff? Is someone your rock? You may want to write from the perspective of a rock. If it had a voice, what stories would it tell us? Other derivatives of the word include rocky, rockless, rocklike, unrocked.

We resent the desperate
being labeled,
‘rock bottom.’

We dwell on cliffs,
drift with the sea,
shine on cement and sand.

Speckled, spotted, striped–
we are individuals. You sit
on us, throw us, collect us

in glass jars. Remember us;
we will outlive you.

    Yes indeed. Those rocks will be here long after we are dust. Good take on the prompt.

  7. Like others, glad to hear the rocks speaking up for themselves – if only we had the ages to sit down and really converse. Very nice.

    There is no reason to be too unkind and arrogant against them as they are made of sterner stuff. Very clever way of looking at it Sara!
