Written for dVerse Poets Pub Haibun Monday: “What Are Your Plans?” (posted by hayesspencer)
My return to New York has left some holes in my life. The only way I can fill up holes is to keep writing. A writer’s world feels like home, no matter where
my physical being resides. Missing my once-a-month poetry group, I am actively seeking one here. In fact, tomorrow I hope to attend a group that meets at a
local library, as did my previous group.
Pencil drawings put me in a whole different sphere. I have started drawing again, but lately allow a lot of time to pass before I get back to my work.
Other than these two worlds, I do plan to live more fully in this one.

I like your plans. I too am looking for a poetry group. It is hard! Your haiku is excellent. It is that grey time of year. The earth is going to sleep for awhile. Time to write!

Poetry groups are difficult to find… however creating writing groups are excellent, and I think poetry being a natural part of fiction writing only makes it more fun… Living in Stockholm feels like the end of the world for writing in English.. but it turned out not to be.

Poetry is like a woman taking all the pins out of her hair so that it cascades down her back.

I had often hoped we might meet in person here in Portland, and am sad to see that you’ve moved back to NY. But happy for you as it seems that is where you need to be. I hope the new poetry group works out.

I liked the last sentence about the other two worlds and the plan to live fully in this one. I hope you find that poetry group.

Thanks, Magaly. Today’s group ended up being postponed, so I won’t find out about it for another week.

I love the idea of pot holes in our life being filled with writing! A great analogy!! Keep writing!

i totally understand the comfort and encouragement a poetry group can give, I have a lovely one here in Malaysia, from different walks of life with one common love. do what it takes to fill that void in your life, writing will always be the best tonic. wishing you well in all your endeavours.

Writing fills holes for me, too. I hope you can find a good group to join.
