To Flee or Not To Flee

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #328

Words:  escapes, song, voted, sound, wishes, thank, party, thirsty, exist, drive, if, pushes

Fluttering sound of song
exists in air around me.
A party of escaped
pigeons push out of roof-
top coops, driven and thirsty
for freedom. Decision to flee
had been voted on and passed
unanimously. If it had not,
chaos would reign, and poop
would rain. President
of the Pigeon Board thanked
all involved, wishing them
well in fending for themselves.
I have to go home and change.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
