In studying genie-ology
I ponder possibilities
of who first placed
the genie in a bottle?

Then there is a question
of gender. Do male genies
only visit males?

How about those wishes–
are there always three?
Can you wish
for three more?

In studying genie-ology
I ponder the possibility
that somehow–as on
The Twilight Zone–there
would be a price to pay
for each wish granted.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Such a delightful read 🙂 I too wonder if we can have more than three wishes!💞

Last Saturday night we attended an after-wedding reception (they were married earlier but hadn’t announced it) for a grandchild. One activity at the party was a “Gender Announcement” where the ‘bride and groom’ threw darts at a balloon filled board in order to break then. Colored paint would then ooze down the board. The sex of the child would be the most blue or pink paint releases. Blue won. And only the groom’s mother knew of the sex until then.
Their wishes were for a boy.

By doing so the possibility of a wish to be granted will be more likely!
