Quadrille #47 – “leap”   (posted by Grace)

“Today is a good day to leap into poetry! That’s right friends, our first Quadrille word for 2018 is LEAP. The rules in Quadrille is simple: write a poem, or short story in 44 words (excluding the title) with the word, LEAP.”

Take a leap,
she says.
If it doesn’t pan out,
at least you dared.

What of consequences?
friend replies.
One leap can hurt
others, ripple
through water
like wake of a ship.

Ask yourself, she says,
if you would rather be
a stagnant pool.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. We have to take chances! Stagnation is no fun. Very wise work 💫

  2. Ugh, stagnant water. I think not. Sometimes we need those ripples in order to get anywhere. Did you link this, Sarah. I didn’t see it on the quadrille prompt, but I could be wrong.
