Written for Poets United Midweek Motif~Doorway(s)
Your Challenge: Write a new poem with a doorway motif, one with doors open or closed.

Darkness.  Crescent moon–
Only arc of light to fall
On face of brass knocker,
Raising hairs on back of my neck
When countenance of a gargoyle
Appeared. Strange music wafts from windows. Should I run?
You bet!

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. Oh very spooky, with a perfect photo to add to the eeriness. Happy New Year, kiddo.

Great Poem! Especially in the light of last night’s full moon! Loved the imagery in you acrostic.

Rather than run it is best to walk away quietly. Cops hate people running at night!
