troiku for Celestine

Written for:  Carpe Diem Extra January 23rd 2018 — Celestine Nudanu (special feature)

I challenge you to create a troiku with the following haiku by Celestine Nudanu:

empty calabash
reflecting the fading sun
a beggar sits in gloom

© Celestine

Here is my troiku attempt:

empty calabash
drying in sunlight on ground
we fill it with water

reflecting the fading sun
toad on a lily pad
appears pink

a beggar sits in gloom
sun slips behind clouds
where will he sleep?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
