A Lunar Eclipse Glows Red

“The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore?”

― Ming-Dao Deng, Everyday Tao

Once in a blue moon
the sky is lit
with an astronomical orb
glowing like
a blood orange.

Like humans, the moon needs
a change, wants
Does not
want to be taken
for granted.

Miraculous sights only happen
once in a blue moon.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I am sure the Moon is just laughing as it knows what we don’t as we live our lives in not once click of her fingers (if she had any) and also open mouthed (if she had one) at our audacity in have only 12 months a years when 13 fit much better in her 28 day cycle round the Earth. She gets quite garrulous at times when she wants a chat with me.
