Follow Your Gut

Written for:  Poetics Aside #430
Write an annoyance poem.  It could be about a small annoyance (like the power shutting off here for a few hours this morning). Or it could be about an annoyance that is somewhat more significant. Maybe it’s hair that keeps falling in your eyes, a tickle in the back of your throat, or waiting to speak to a real human being when calling into customer service.

Always smarter to go with your gut.
I did not; my taxes sit undone
in a CPA firm, seemingly stuck.
Always smarter to go with your gut.
They are ill-prepared to deserve a cut.
Hope I don’t end up back at square one.
Always smarter to go with your gut.
I did not; my taxes sit undone.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
