Winter Movements

Written for:  Hedgewitch’s Flash 55!
Greetings and welcome to another Friday 55, the forum where we remember the legacy of a man named Galen Hayes who, with humor and kindness, touched the lives of everyone who came to play his meme. We also come to write, in a place without rules or demands, except that our efforts be composed in 55 words of prose or poetry–no more, no less.

People dashing
out of the way–
crashing trees

trees sprawl
across roadways–
snuffing out power lines

lines outside
Home Depot stores–
need a shovel

shovel, toss, shovel, toss
make a pathway
for the dogs

dogs roll in four-pawed
snow angels, crunching ice–
returning as dog ice sculptures

Sculptures bathed in sunlight
on greenery–

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Dog sculptures(and snow angels) are my favorite kind. Lots of great rhythm in this song of winter blues–thanks for joining us at the 55.Sara.
