Head of Household

Written for:  dVerse Poets Pub – “Sunny-side Up!”  (posted by Lillian)
Here’s a few images to spur your imagination. Think young, take the energy of the spring season and think fun, new life, possibilities. Sunny side up, everyone. Pick one of the images below, copy and paste to your site, and write a poem motivated by the image.

I am not a little teapot,
cup, plant or enormous ant,
nor do I care to have
a cold silver spoon
touch my body.
A mean mistress,
she.
You can see her hair is dyed,

and she appears cross-eyed–perhaps
from that unwieldy bustle; rustling
noises accompany her wherever
she walks. Talks like an innocent,
kindly woman, but if you ask
the dog, I am sure he will agree
with me. As Head Cat I must go
to bat for the other members
of my household. I have come up
with a plan, nearly ready to hatch.
The spring in her step will not bounce
for long.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

LOVE IT! Chuckling I am………..Last two lines are superb! Tis a fun tale and I thank you as I retire for the night. 🙂 Smiling all the way, padding cross this Bermuda floor in my slippers, the moon shining on the water outside. Only at night is it not those indescribable colors and hues of blue.
Fun fun post!!! I thank you ! 🙂
