Written for:  Poetic Asides 2018 April PAD Challenge – Day 14
“For today’s prompt, write a report poem. I know, I know: Writing a report sounds about as far away from poetry as flying is to a penguin, but many poems report on a moment or an instance or a scene. In your poem (or poems) today, report on something big and important or small and inconsequential (or small and important–or, well, you get the idea).”

Headlines proclaimed: Star Found Dead In Ocean!
They deemed it a definite suicide.
Cameras, TV crews, what a commotion.

Gossip was whispered in bars, at home,
was she depressed? Was she on drugs?
What could have made her feel so alone?

Appeared always smiling with grace and poise
they garnered from screen or stage portrayals,
all those roles unlike her life–devoid of joy.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
