Graffiti or Not?

Written for:  Poetic Asides 2018 April PAD Challenge – Day 18
Write a temptation poem.

A poster glued to building’s wall,
so large in glare of midday sun.
I heard the magic marker’s call.

A mustache would be loads of fun
to draw on such a sneering face;
I would sketch it with great aplomb.

Perhaps a beard? Not out of place,
or pair of spectacles might do
to cover vacant eyes that glaze

over when questioned without a clue.
Last of all, an ear-muff hat
to distract from a bad hairdo.

Oh, I really must have at
that orange face of blandness.
Lend me a marker, it’s an art attack.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
