One More Day

Written for:  Imaginary Gardens With Real Toads – April Day 29
Fireblossom Friday:  This is (Almost) The End
“Let’s write about almost endings.  Sometimes the moment just before something ends is as poignant as the actual ending.”

No one is grading you,
nor blaming, nor judging
you if you do not complete
those heated thirty day
challenges. You are driven,
given new prompts each day.
Do you thrive, feel a rush
like a high every time
you post? Pass that
mid-month hump. Now you
are pumped. You can do this!
And then, April 29th arrives.
Tomorrow that fevered pace
will come to an end. Like
an actor wrapping up
a movie, don’t you have
a sad, deflated balloon
on your hands?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
