empty bottles

Written for:  The Twiglets #75 – “empty bottles”

He collected her stash
of vodka bottles
emptied contents in sink
threw bottles in trash
wondered if he had found
them all.

Empty wine bottles
on the mantel
each one tells a tale

When Bert drank, he drank plenty
His garage was filled up with empties
He took all of the bottles
got cash, and then waddled
to the liquor store and spent every penny

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    Aaah, love those limericks!

  2. Jules says:

I know someone who tried that with packs of cigarettes… tossing them –
Eventually that person went from 4 packs to 0. Sometimes intervention helps.

While on vacation I found a wine bottle in the hotel laundry room trash… with a pretty rose and a glass stopper – I don’t know it’s story so I’ll have to create one 😉

    Keep up the Limericks 🙂
