Too Many Broken Promises

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #354

Words:  slam, channel, race, suspect, blast, cycle, lost, crawl, back, bad, chance, ink

As suspected,
same cycle
different day.
Too many chances
lost down the road.
Fights fought,
windows blasted out,
doors slammed. No
crawling back,
Jack. Count me
out of this race.
Changed locks,
channeled affection
in a new direction.
My name inked
on your heart?
Bad move.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Good move to change locks but sad that amicable breakup not possible for them. Great use of the words and so economical too!

It’s stimulating to see what different people write with the same prompts! Poetry was always difficult for me, prose is easier. Great job!
