Read calligraphy that names
what teacup leaves predicted.
Cracked lines in palm
between spaces tinged red
with terror. Someone is bound
with straps in a dark cellar.
No, she cries, this is only
a dream. Then she hears
tap, tap, tap of metal
on wood. She does not know
if she is awake.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I used to have the occasional dream like that; luckily they got fed up with me and came your way instead!

Really well done. Can include almost anything in a dream. Clever.
