Mastering Sails

Written for:  The Twiglets #87 – “a mast and sail”

After the captain’s mast,
he would sail no more.

Up the mast

His body sails
the ocean.

There once was a sailor named Earl
who set out to see the world
left his sweetheart at home
to wait all alone
but she was wooed away; Pearl was a restless girl

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  3. Jules says:

    Pearl reminds me of Brandy…
    though :
    Brandy wears a braided chain
Made of finest silver from the North of Spain
A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loved – by Looking Glass
