They grow giant dandelions
that grab you ’round the
ankles, should you have
the courage to venture
that far. Steps slide
as you face the door;
braying of a banshee,
if you ring the bell, but hell,
no matter what mad hatter tales
kids hear, some just have
to take the dare. Three kids
make it to the door, poorly
disguising their fear. They
are bade entrance by a green
-faced, cape-clad butler. Led
to a cobwebbed parlor, tables laden
with thorny plants, they sit, shaking.
Raucous laughter haunts the air.
The plants open their mouths,
and gobble up those three kids
faster than you can say coffin.
Not often do any other children
attempt to check out Carnivore
Castle, but if they do,
they do not check out.
