“broke the rules”

Written for:  The Twiglets  #100 – “broke the rules”

Rules of the Company
broke him

personal decision:
you find a rule absurd
do you break it?

My rule is tolerance,
compassion, aid. I hope
never to break it.

A stranger arrived in the town
superior air, and a frown
Spewed hatred at those
whose looks he opposed
Folks threw him out, citing rules against haters and clowns.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I try to rule by compassion, but sometimes others stupidity gets in the way.
Especially when they pack up and leave to get away from ‘it all’ and then expect you to follow where they lead. I’m with Misky – clowns can be creepy.
