Written for: Poetic Asides 2018 November PAD Chapbook Challenge – Day 4
For today’s prompt, write an apologetic poem. Maybe the poem itself is a first person apology. Or it could be about someone apologizing to someone else. Or maybe you decide to flip the script and write a “no apologies” poem.
Mom and Dad, I apologize
for strife and tears that I caused you.
For love not often vocalized,
Mom and Dad, I apologize.
You instilled need to sympathize
with all people as is their due.
Mom and Dad, I apologize
for strife and tears that I caused you.
we all have our burdens of guilt but believe when I say you were better than most
