When Reality is Abhorrent

Written for:  Poetic  Asides 2018 November PAD Chapbook Challenge – Day 25
“For today’s prompt, take a line from a poem written earlier this month, make that the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Quote an entire line or phrase from within a line. “

Reality has hit an all time low.
This year, I can readily let go.
Today the grief of my cousin’s passing
is overwhelming. I love her so.

Since she is no longer in reality’s grasp,
and those who are, blue me with being crass,
sail me to Wonderland’s dream, near ocean.
This senseless reality should be in the past.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
